We were thrilled to receive
emails confirming our selection for the Marathon Meetup by runDisney. This event was to include a host of athletes, celebrities and of course a run through Hollywood Studios while the park was still closed to visitors. Our invitation told us to be at the entrance to HS by 6:30am on Friday and of course we were early and eager for this fun event! As soon as we were checked in we received a 20th anniversary runDisney shirt to wear. We quickly put on our shirts and a few special characters came into view for photos before our run.

We ran in the run/walk group as we definitely wanted to take it easy before the weekend races. We did a nice 2.5 mile loop through the parks which helped us acclimate to the ridiculous humidity - eek we were sweaty!

| Pausing for a quick stop with Buzz and Woody |
Once we arrived at the Lights, Camera, Action stage/theater, it was breakfast time and time for the speakers - yay!
 |
| Food truck breakfast - yum!! |
It was an incredible group - celebrities, runners, the New Balance team, and former NFL linebacker Eddie Mason. We paid close attention to all of the speakers, soaking up every word. And now to the lessons of the day...
After the speakers, it was time for a few more photos and pick up our goodie bag. runDisney graciously provided each attendee with a 1-day/1-park ticket, an i-fitness belt and H2O products.

It was a fabulous morning and we are so grateful that runDisney puts on these fabulous events! As we worked on this post, we were still seeing stars after such a star-studded morning. It was simply fabulous.
Thank you runDisney!

ADORABLE post!!! Thanks for sharing, looks like a Blast!
ReplyDeleteIt was fabulous. We felt very lucky to be part of this.
DeleteI love all the pictures! I'm getting so inspired?? to try for the Goofy Challenge-and I'm just now training for my first 1/2-lol!
ReplyDeletePam has been running just over 2 years. Goofy Challenge training is tough, but definitely worth the effort!
DeleteFun! I'm hoping to get the chance to attend the meet up at the DL half later this year :)
ReplyDeleteJen, Hope you can get in. The meetups are really fun.
DeleteTotally jealous! A small part of me is glad I didn't get into the meet up and have to decide between that and the 5k since I really wanted to do Dopey this year, but it looks like it was a lot of fun and you guys got to meet some really great people!
ReplyDeleteDanielle, We enjoyed the meet up and for me, meeting Joan Benoit Samuelson was the highlight. I watched her win the Olympic gold medal on TV and went to college with her brother. As a fellow New Englander, and of the same generation, we had fun chatting, at least I did! :)
DeleteLove your recap! How wonderful that you both had the opportunity to do this! I bet it was wonderful to listen to all the speakers..wow...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing a bit with us!
It was fabulous and we were fortunate to both have the opportunity.
